Prachanda Contesting the Election In Two Constituencies

The secretariat of CPN-Maoist announced that Chairman Prachanda would contest the Constituent assembly election in two constituencies such as Kathmandu and Rolpa. The secretariat also announced the constituencies other eleven secretariat members would contest the elections on April 10, 2008. For example, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai will contest a seat in the Constituent Assembly in the Gorkha constituency, Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' in Chitwan, Mohan Baidhya 'Kiran' and Krishna Bahadur Mahara in Dang, CP Gajurel 'Gaurav' in Sindhuli, and Post Bahadur Bogati 'Diwakar' in Nuwakot, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi 'Anil' in Arghakhanchi, Dev Prasad Gurung in Manang, Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' in Kailali and Barsha Man Pun 'Ananta' in Lalitpur. For the 601-member constituent assembly, 240 members will be elected directly, 335 through the proportional electoral system, and the Cabinet will appoint the remaining 26 members.
