Issue 01, Janaury 3, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On December 27, Former Prime Minister Prachanda has granted a private audience to Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood at the Prachanda’s private residence Nayabazar in Kathmandu. According to the statement released by the UCPN-Maoist, Prachanda has shown concern for Indian General Dipak Kapoor telling visiting Nepalese Chief of Army Staff Chatraman Singh Gurung not to integrate the Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army a few weeks ago; Prachanda has also made it clear to the Indian envoy that the Indian General talking about the internal matters of Nepal has violated the international norms of not interfering in the internal matters of any other country; in addition, Prachanda has shown his concern for the Indian encroachment on the Nepalese territory.

After meeting with Former Prime Minister Prachanda, Indian envoy Rakesh Sood left Kathmandu for New Delhi for a regular briefing to the Indian authorities about the political situation in Nepal.

Following the fourth round of the movement against the President’s undemocratic action, the UCPN-Maoist has announced to recapture the land encroached by the Indians elsewhere in Nepal.

On December 22, 2009, speaking at the mass rally held by his party at New Baneswore in Kathmandu, Prachanda has said that Indian General Dipak Kapoor has told the visiting Nepalese general not to integrate the Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army, and the government has not speak out about such a serious matter of interfering in the internal matters of Nepal.

On December 27, 2009, General Secretary of CPN-UML Iswore Pokharel has said that Indian General Dipak Kapoor telling visiting Nepalese Chief of Army Staff Chatraman Singh Gurung not to integrate the Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army is not official one so his party is not concerned with this matter; however, the integration of Maoist combatants and their subsistence will be following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
