By KTM Metro Reporter

October 13, 2010: the first meeting of the seven-member high-profile taskforce comprising top leaders of major political parties held at the office of the Chairman of Constituent Assembly (CA) in Kathmandu today has appointed Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda to the coordinator of the taskforce that has been set up to take up the differences of opinions cropped up among the members of the eight subject-matter committees formed to prepare a draft of a new constitution on their respective subject matters. The main task of the high-profile taskforce is to get passed the subject-matter reports from the CA and pass them on to the Constitutional Committee for a final draft of a new constitution. This is certainly for expediting the writing of a constitution.

The taskforce in turn has constituted a seven-member-expert team drawing experts from the seven political parties to assist the taskforce. Members of the expert team are Dev Prasad Gurung from UCPN-Maoist, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat (before Dashain) and Ramesh Lekhak (after Dashain) from Nepali Congress, Bharat Mohan Adhikari from CPN-UML, Rateneshwor Lal Kayashtha from Madheshi People’s Rights Forum, Sunil Prajapati from Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party, Prem Bahadur Singh from Samajbadi Prajatantrik Janata Dal and Rukmini Chaudhary from Sanghiya Loktantrik Rastriya Manch. Singh and Chaudhary are also the members of the high-profile taskforce.
