Prachanda Meets with Madhav Nepal
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
March 19, 2010: following the advice of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala and of President Dr, Ram Baran Yadav on taking the lead in the peace process and writing a new constitution, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has met with Prime Minister Madhav Nepal at the private residence of Madhav Nepal at Koteswore in Kathmandu on March 18, 2010.
Ostensibly, both Prachanda and Madhav Nepal want to complete the peace process and the writing of a new constitution on time. However, on the back of their minds they have different things. Prachanda has on his mind how to capture the power again whereas Madhav Nepal has on his mind how to keep the power as long as possible.
Madhav Nepal has been using the state money in all possible ways to buy and keep as many legislators as possible for supporting his chair. Thus, Mr. Nepal has been working for his own short-term benefits disregarding the long-term adverse impact of his activities on his party.
Prachanda wants to grab the power somehow but not buying the legislators. So, he has not been able to be back on power. His sincerity will pay him and his party in a long-term basis but will need to have patience and a lot of political maneuver.
So, both Prachanda and Madhav Nepal have agreed to disagree on all the subject matters they have discussed.
