Prachanda Speaking From Hill Retreat

August 22, 2010: talking to the reporters at the hill retreat in Dhulikhel today, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist has said that the failure of electing a new Prime Minister even after four rounds of parliamentary elections is not due to his party’s position but because of the failure of the parliamentary system of governance; he has also said that he will emerged a winner on the fifth round of the election if the Madheshi legislators support him; he has also repeated that he is ready to pull out of the election if the NC reciprocates it; "Rather than finding any particular party responsible for the failure in electing a new prime minister, we must understand that the situation arose because of the failure of the parliamentary system" said Prachanda; at the same time, in an informal meeting held today, leaders of CPN-UML have agreed on Chairman Jhalanath Khanal contesting in the sixth round of the prime ministerial election if the parliament fails in electing a Prime Minister in the fifth round of election to be held on Monday, August 23, 2010l; officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal had pulled Khanal out of the contest on the first round of election stating he could not garner the two-third majority support for is candidacy his party had asked him to do; leaders of small political parties have warned the leaders of three major parties of the boycotting the parliamentary session if the three major parties fail in electing a new Prime Minister and continue a sixth round of election, nepalnews.com reports.
