Prime Minister Agrees On Security Lapse In Kathmandu

On February 8, 2010, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has visited the parents of Jamin Shah killed at Lazimpat on the broad daylight of Sunday afternoon, February 7, 2010 to condole with them on the untimely demise of their son.

According to the local press, father of the deceased said to the Prime Minister, “Your son might get killed as my son if the security lapse continues in Kathmandu,” the Prime Minister has accepted the fact of the security lapse.

The government has set up a high-level investigation commission to investigate the killing of Jamin Shah on February 8, 2010.

The Nepal Police has stated that the Indian underworld gang was involved in killing Jamin Shah, and sharp shooters shot Shah dead according to the news in the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapata’ of February 9, 2010.

Speaking at the closing session of the legislature on February 8, 2010, some legislators have heavily criticized Home Minister Bhim Rawal currently in China for an official visit, for not being able to protect the lives of citizenry.
