Prime Minister Bhattarai Addresses Parliament

Issue 38, September 18, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 17, 2011: speaking at the parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that his government is responsible for completing the peace process, and the first draft of the new constitution, and has further said that his government also is responsible for providing Nepalis with the minimum relief during the extended term of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

He has compared those three tasks with the Himalaya, and has said that his government alone could not climb those formidable mountains; so other political parties need to support him to complete those historic tasks.

Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai has said that political parties should jointly complete the peace process formulating a clear roadmap of army integration, post adjustment, and honorable package for rehabilitation and voluntary retirement, as the government alone would not be able to do so without the cooperation of other political parties.

"Like the sacrifices made for the restoration of loktantra, let us sacrifice from our respective sides in the constitution making and not make unnecessary disputes on the common contents. We would do better to evaluate all of us after crossing the bend of peace and constitution. If we get mired into disputes, our vehicle of peace and constitution will either be stuck beyond the hills or it will meet accident. It will be a great mistake if we think that anyone of us will be spared in the accident," ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today quotes Prime Minster Dr. Bhattarai.

Bhattarai has urged the political leaders to complete the historical tasks keeping aside the political ideology, as nobody could oppose the peace process and the constitution writing; possibly this is the last chance of completing these noble tasks.
