Prime Minister Madhav Nepal Stops Radio Program

Issue 22, May 31, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

After taking the oath of office of Prime Minister, the first thing Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has done is to stop the morning program called ‘Samaya Prabaha’ of the state-run Radio Nepal. He has not given any reasons for stopping such informative program. The ‘Samaya Prabaha’ is the question answer program. Program manager invites political and other figures of national interest and asks questions and the guest replies.

What Madhav Nepal will get muzzling the state media? Is he trying to prolong the life of his government stopping such an interesting program? Obviously, the program manager must be critical of Madhav Nepal and his party otherwise listeners do not see any other reasons for cutting off such a good radio program.
