Prime Minister Meeting With Political Leaders

Issue 28, July 8, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 2, 2012: in an effort on building a consensus among the political leaders, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai met with Pashupati Shumsher Rana of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Kamal Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-Nepal) in his official Baluwatar residence yesterday. Both the leaders were the former Panchas: infamous for corruption and the despotic rule for 30 years. What sorts of a consensus could be built meeting with such disgraced leaders remains to be seen. Meeting with such leaders, the prime minister has simply boosted the political morale of these so-called leaders.

What the prime minister has got from these leaders nothing but the same old stories. Mr. Rana clearly told the prime minister that he should quit the office and form a new unity government, as the current government could not hold the election to a new CA. Mr. Thapa told the prime minister that only a new government headed by the Chief Justice could hold the election to a new CA; so the prime minister needs to quit the office. One correct thing Mr. Thapa has told the prime minister is that building a consensus is impossible, as the political parties could not build a consensus during the last four years; so stop putting efforts on building a consensus among the political leaders.

Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has almost gone insane for demanding the prime minister to quit the office; it is almost sure that Mr. Khanal would need a treatment if the prime minister does not quit the office soon. Mr. Khanal has asked President of NC Sushil Koirala to name a new prime minister to expedite the resignation of the prime minister.

Some NC leaders equally being mad of not being in power for long have gone to put pressure on the party president to revive the dissolved CA even for a brief period. They believe that their party could do anything not abiding by the law.

However, CPN-UML leader KP Oli has come to some senses telling his insane colleagues that the reinstatement of the CA is not possible, as the Interim Constitution does not allow the political parties to do so; and the Supreme Court of Nepal has ruled on holding an election to a new CA.

Even Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhatarai most people think a sensible person has gone semi-insane agreeing on reviving the dissolved CA provided the political parties build a consensus on it. Dr. Bhattari will be well off quitting the office rather than agreeing on the most illegal thing to do.

If the political leaders revive the dissolved CA, the Supreme Court of Nepal might send the leaders responsible for reviving the CA to jail for the contempt of the court. So, the only alternative left to the prime minister is to hold an impartial election to a new CA. Every law-abiding person will support this action of the prime minister, and the Supreme Court of Nepalis backs up the prime minister for holding an election to a new CA.

The so-called leaders of the Vaidhya party called CPN-Maoist have gone mad fighting against their own brothers in arms. Newly self-promoted Chairman Vaidhya of CPN-Maoist has vowed to tear down the current government. He went to meet with President of NC Sushil Koirala to formulate the strategy of toppling the Bhattarai government. It is not surprising that Mr. Vaidhya is doing such things, as he does everything to capture the state power and impose the dictatorship. So, Mr. Koirala also not following the rule of law might go along with Mr. Vaidhya to bring a political turbulence in Nepal, as they don’t believe in the democratic practice such as the elections to a new CA.

So far, only the president has remained a man of sound mind, and has not done anything that goes against the law. Hopefully, the president remains sane and goes along with the prime minister to run the country with the right budget and helps the prime minister to hold an election to a new CA that would elect a new prime minister, and end the madness of the opposition political leaders.
