Process Of Registering At EC For Election Purpose Started

Issue 18, May 5, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

April 30, 2013: the Election Commission (EC) has started off registering the political parties for the purpose of the elections. Political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML, and RPP-Nepal had registered their parties at the opening of the office today: the first day of the registration. Political parties have one-month time to register. The registration ends on May 29, 2013. If any political party fails in registering at the EC, then it will not be eligible for participating in the elections.

Political parties need to submit the constitution of the party, its manifesto, rules, flag, and election symbol, and photocopies of the certificates of citizenship of the members of the central committee or equivalent of it of the party. If any political party has made discriminatory conditions such as religion, caste, ethnicity, language or gender for being the member of the party or if any party has the objective, symbol, and flag to disrupt the religious harmony, and unity of the country or if any party has the objective of the no-party system or one-party system in its constitution or rules, then the EC will not register such a political party pursuant to the Article 142 (4) of the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007, according to the notice of the EC published in the ‘gorkhapatra’ of yesterday and today.
