Issue 42, October 14, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

October 8, 2012: at the meeting of the top leaders of the Nepalese political parties held at the residence of President of NC Sushil Koirala today evening, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist proposed to revive the dissolved CA, according to nepalnews.com

Senior leader of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba has been the fan of reviving the dissolved CA for resolving the current political uncertainty.  Other NC leaders also have been serious about the CA reinstatement if the Maoists were to enforce the five-point agreement reached among the four major political forces before the CA dissolution according to nepalnews.com

Talking to the reporters after the meeting, senior leader of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba said that Prachanda proposed to reinstate the CA; it was my agenda before four major parties agreed to go for the elections to a new CA. "There is no reason of disagreeing with the UCPN-M Chairman’s proposal on CA reinstatement as this is what I have been demanding for a long," ‘THT ONLINE’ quotes Deuba as saying.

At the same time, NC leaders have accused the UCPN-Maoist of not being serious about forming a national consensus government. Nobody defines what is a national consensus government. So far, every political party believes that a government under its leadership is a consensus government. NC leaders also believe that a government under their leadership is a national consensus government.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has repeated his commitment to not quitting the office without all political parties reaching an agreement on all contentious issues. The prime minister also accused the NC and other opposition parties of being more concerned with leading a government than resolving the political crisis.
