Question Of Human Rights After Denial Of Visa
By KTM Metro Reporter
July 3, 2010: the US embassy in Kathmandu has denied one of the Maoist leaders Agni Sapkota the visa for the USA to attend the seminar sponsored by the USAID after the US-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) complained to the US embassy about Agni Sapkota was involved in human rights violation in Nepal.
Now, the HRW has asked the Government of Nepal for holding an investigation into the killing of Arjun Lama of the Kavre district in 2005 in which Agni Sapkota was allegedly involved according to the nepalnews.com. The HRW has pointed out that denying visa to Agni Sapkota, the US has sent a signal that human rights violators need to face the consequences of their wrong deeds.
