Rains and Floods In Far Western Nepal

October 7, 2009, the continuous rains started on Sunday, October 4, 2009 have caused tremendous damages to the lives and the properties of the people in the far western Nepal. Millions of worth of properties have been damaged.

The landslides caused by the rains have killed more than 30 people, as the landslides have enveloped the houses killing the people in them. Rescuers have been helpless because of the continuous flow of mud in the landslide areas.

Landslides have damaged roads in other areas bringing the road traffic to standstill. Nobody knows how many days the Department of Roads would take to repair the damaged roads.

The continuous late monsoon rains have damaged several standing rice crops. People could not dried up the harvested rice crops because of the rains threatening to damage even the harvested rice crops.
