April 14, 2012: UCPN-Maoist and UDMF held a meeting at the prime minister’s official residence in Kathmandu today and decided to make the current government a unity one asking NC and CPN-UML leaders to join it, and give the current government a continuity, as the government has made a significant progress in completing the peace process.  However, the NC and the CPN-UML leaders have been saying the government is formed following the four-point deal the UCPN-Maoist and UDMF reached but they don’t recognize the four-point deal of the two coalition partners and have been demanding Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai to quit the office for paving the way to form a new unity government. After the decision of the coalition of the UCPN-Maoist and UDMF on continuing the current government, the NC and CPN-UML leaders would be reluctant to send their lieutenants to join the current government.

At the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence today evening the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) has approved the agreement reached on the army integration at the three-party meeting. The three-party agreement is the ranks for the combatants integrated into the Nepal Army will be following the standards of the Nepal Army; the chairman of the Public Service Commission (PAC) or the member appointed by him presides over the selection committee (for official level); the head of the general directorate under the Nepal Army will have the position of Lt. General; the combatants will go through three to nine months of training depending on their ranks; a cabinet meeting will give the decisions of the AISC a final shape on Sunday, April 15, 2012 nepalnews.com writes.

In a press statement released today, Former president of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) Raj Kumar Lekhi has said that President Yadav has created terror of disintegration of the country stating he would not put his seal of assent on the new constitution if he sees such a possibility; the President has indirectly spoken against federalism following some responsible parties to make such a statement overstepping the constitutional provision; as a ceremonial President, the decision of the council of ministers becomes his decision; and also demanded the President withdrawing his remarks immediately offering a public apology according to the news posted on the nepalnews.com.

Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda and US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O Blake have talked over telephone on maters relating to the peace process and the constitution making on Friday, RSS reports. During the telephone conversation, Assistant Secretary of State Blake appreciated the role of the UCPN-Maoist in completing the peace process, Nepalnews.com quotes Prachanda’s press aide Santosh Poudel. US Assistant Secretary of State Blake also expressed the confidence that Chairman Prachanda would have a more important role in the promulgation of a democratic constitution following the people’s aspirations, and Nepal would enter into a new era through the promulgation of the new constitution on schedule.
