January 26, 2013: the Martyr's Week Main Organizing Committee of the Kathmandu Metropolis marked the centenary birth anniversary of martyr Dharma Bhakta Mathema holding various events in Kathmandu today. Members of the Martyr's Week Main Organizing Committee placed the floral garlanded to the bust of martyr Mathema at Shifal, where Mathema got martyrdom. On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of Metropolis Kedar Bahadur Adhikari said that the struggles launched by martyr Mathema against Rana oligarchy helped introduce democracy in the country and making a sovereign country, according to the RSS news posted on thehimalayantimes.com today.
If the martyr like Mathema had not sacrificed his luxurious life to fight against the tyrannical Rana rule, most of us would have to live under the despotic rule of the Rana-Shah rulers that had sucked the blood of the common Nepalese folks for 240 years for their luxurious lives. So, sacrificing his own life, Martyr like Mathema gave us new lives and rights to live like humans. However, the current opposition parties including the NC and CPN-UML have been trying to put the clock back disregarding the federalism in anticipation to repress the people.
