August 20, 2013: Nepal Purbadhar Bikash Company Limited (NPBCL) and Global IME Bank and International Money Express (IME) signed off an agreement on collecting equity shares from migrant workers to this ambitious project called Kathmandu- Hetauda Fast Track Highway, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

At an event held in Kathmandu yesterday, chief executive officer of NPBCL Dr. Subarna Bajracharya, CEO of Global IME Bank Ratna Raj Bajracharya and CEO of IME Suman Pokharel signed off the agreement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, chairman of NPBCL Kush Kumar Joshi said that the agreement with IME and Global IME Bank would be crucial to collect funds from the Nepalese working abroad. While visiting various migrant Nepali workers in various countries, he found that they were for investing in the fast track highway.

Chairman of Global IME Bank Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that the bank felt proud of being part of the national dream project. Not only from the third countries, IME could also collect funds from India and from within the country through its wide network for the highway.

CEO of IME Suman Pokharel said that the Nepalese working in foreign countries and sending remittances would be encouraged to invest in this project.

Vice-chairman and technical director of NPBCL Lal Krishna KC said that currently the company was preparing the detailed survey report, environment impact assessment and detailed design of the project.

Following the agreement, the IME will collect equity shares from among 1.5 million clients of the company from across the globe.

The cost of the project is Rs. 35 billion. This project is going to be implemented by the public-private partnership using national capital and skills. If everything goes as planned the highway will be functional in December 2016.
