October 20, 2011: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has sacrificed two ministers before making a visit to India to cool down the heated parliament. Lawmakers belonging to the so-called opposition political parties such as NC and CPN-UML have been blocking the regular business of the parliament demanding the firing of two ministers: one is the Defense Minister for allegedly making an anti-national statement, and another is Land Reform Minister for allegedly involving in a murder case. The so-called opposition lawmakers have allowed the Speaker to run the business of the House smoothly after firing two ministers from their jobs.

UCPN-Maoist has recalled Minister for land Reform Prabhu Sah for his alleged involvement in a murder case. Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic has recalled Defense Minister Sarat Singh Bhandari for his allegedly anti-national statement.

Addressing the parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai has told the lawmakers that honoring the demand of the lawmakers for firing two ministers involved in the controversial issues, he has relieved them from the respective office on the recommendations of the concerned political parties, and he does not want to go into the details of those issues,; he has taken this actions for making possible to run the House session smoothly for completing the peace process and a new constitution; this action does not make anyone a loser or a winner; nationality is not the concern for one party but for all; similarly, the rule of law is the concern for all; so, all parties need to honor them; be sure, the government follows the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, and will not do anything against the spirit of this agreement; nobody should give more importance to anything other than the peace process and a new constitution; we need to focus on these two tasks; so, the honorable House also should focus on these tasks; the elections have been held to the Constituent Assembly but we have focused on the parliament; so we need to draw our attention to this flaw; he also has informed the parliament about his visit to India, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.
