Salary to Priests and Storeroom Managers At Pashupati
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On September 8, 2009, the meeting of the Pashupati Area Development Fund has assigned the Chairman of the Fund and Minster for Culture to set up a committee on setting the salaries of priests and storeroom managers at Pashupati according to the ‘Gorkhapatra’ of September 9, 2009.
Indian Priests have pocketed millions if not billions of rupees annually offered to Lord Pashupati in Kathmandu. Some of them have said that they have given some of the money to the palace people in the past. They do not keep any record of what they have received and who have got how much.
When the Maoist-led government appointed Nepalese priests to the vacant positions of priests at Pashupati, Nepali Congress politicians, priests and managers of the storeroom have vehemently opposed it and ultimately made it unsuccessful.
