Kathmandu: hearing on the petition DIG Nawaraj Silwal had filed at the Supreme Court seeking justice for him revoking the promotion the government had done to his junior, a full bench of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli and Justices such as Om Prakash Mishra, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sharada Prasad Ghimire, Mira Khadka, Prakash Man Singh Raut and Purushottam Bhandari rescinded the petition stating the lack of evidences for proving the claim DIG Silwal had made.

DIG Silwal had filed a petition at the Supreme Court on April 12 the second time against the government promoting DIG Prakash Aryal to IGP stating he had scored 154.4 marks against Aryal’ 152.2 in the job performance evaluated for four years.

First time, DIG Silwal filed a petition at the Supreme Court against the government promoting DIG Jay Bahadur Chand to IGP, the man listed for promotion at the bottom of eligible candidates. At that time, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba wanted Chanda to be promoted, Prime Minister Prachanda obliged, according to the local media. In this case, the Supreme Court ruled that promotion of Chanda to IGP was not following the rules and regulations, and ordered the government to follow the rules and regulations for promoting the police officers.

The police headquarters administration had detained DIG Silwal for a day on April 24 to investigate the allegations of he falsifying the performance evaluation report for submitting it to the Supreme Court.

After the ruling of the Supreme Court, DIG Silwal submitted his resignation stating the State has not done justice to him, according to the local media.
