Issue 09, February 28, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

February 22, 2010: Nepalis have to stay home today due to the shutdown called by Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N), the party of royalists demanding referendum on the Hindu religion, monarchy and federalism. The RPP-N cadres have vandalized several vehicles at various areas in Kathmandu.

Businesses in the Kathmandu have come to halt. Workers stayed home; similarly, schoolchildren also stayed home as all educational institutions are closed, too.

Home Minister has deployed security forces at all the main areas in Kathmandu. However, security people have not been able to protect the lives and property of the citizenry as the RPP-N cadres have already damaged several vehicles and have threatened anybody riding any vehicle thus they have ruled the streets challenging the Home Minister and Prime Minister.
