By KTM Metro Reporter
December 3, 2013: at the meeting of the 16 political parties held at the UCPN-Maoist's central office yesterday, the leaders of the parties decided to boycott the meeting called by the Election Commission to announce the results of the proportional representation elections until a high-level independent commission was formed to probe into the irregularities in the elections held on November 19, according to the news on ‘nepalnews.com’.
Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda, Federal Socialist Party Chairman Ashok Rai, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur, and General Secretary of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal Ramsaya Prasad Yadav among others attended the meeting.
After the meeting, General Secretary of Federal Socialist Party Rajendra Shrestha said that leaders of the political parties at the meeting decided not to submit the lists of the names of candidates for the proportional representation (PR), and not to take the oath of office and secrecy. He also said that the reluctance of the government, EC, NC and CPN-UML to probe into the elections fraud has demonstrated that irregularities in the elections had happened.
The EC has called an all-party meeting today at 11:00 am to announce the final number of votes political parties have received in the PR category and the allocation of PR seats to the political parties.
The EC will give a seven-day deadline to the parties for submitting the names for the PR seats, and another three days to make corrections.
