On December 4, 2009, the State university administration has decided to reduce the recently increased tuition fees bowing down to the demand of the students for reducing the tuition fees. The university has increased the tuition fees ten fold provoking the protest of the students. Students have been protesting the tuition fee rise since the university administration has announced the increase in the tuition fee. Students have submitted memo to the Prime Minister and the Minister for Education, and have met with the leaders of the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML for stopping the university administration from increasing the tuition ten fold.

The reduced tuition fee will be Rs 250 per month for the undergraduate students and Rs 350 per month for the graduate students.
