Struggle for CA Election

The leaders of the seven-party alliance and the civil society leaders have been struggling for holding an election for a Constituent Assembly (CA) on April 10, 2008. They have held seven joint mass rally to educate the people on the election for a CA. However, some elements have been attempting to thwart the election inciting violence in various parts of the country. Such elements have set off bombs in Kathmandu, Janakpur and Birgunj after the mass rally of the SPA. Some Madheshi groups and ethnic groups have been calling for an indefinite strike to disrupt the election for a CA. Some analysts believe that the pro-king leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) party with the funding from the palace have inciting the dissident groups to violence. Some of them have been meeting the suspended king in secret according to the Nepalese media reports.
