Supply Of Petroleum Products Stopped
BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
December 1, 2009: the dispute between the Petroleum Dealers’ association and the workers over the agreement they have reached in the past has stopped the fuel supply totally in Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal. Workers have padlocked all the private depots and stopped the supply of petroleum products since Friday, November 27, 2009. Consumers have lined up at a long line to fill their tanks at the police-run and army-run petroleum stations in Kathmandu.
Workers have been accusing the Petroleum Dealers’ association of not enforcing the agreement they have reached in the past whereas the members of the association have been saying that the workers have put forward the demands that could not be met.
The government of Madhav Nepal has been lukewarm to resolve the dispute between the workers and the petroleum dealers causing tremendous inconvenience to the consumers. People have rejected Madhav Nepal at two constituencies; so, he is not much interested in resolving the problems of the people.
