Talking To Political Parties For Elections

May 14, 2013: Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi has held meeting with the president of NC Sushil Koirala yesterday, and discussed the threshold of votes, number of members to be elected through the proportional representation, and announcement of the election date with him, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today. Chairman Regmi is going to discuss the same subject matters with leaders of other political parties, too.

 

After the meeting of the IECM yesterday, the government has called on the 33 political parties including the CPN-Maoist-Vaidhya to come to dialogue without all sorts of conditions. Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya has made three conditions: annul the ‘Removal of Constitutional Hurdles Ordinance” issued on March 14, 2013, annul the citizenship certificates given to the non-Nepalis, and annul the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki to the chief of the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority, for talking to the government.

 

Talking to journalists at the Biratnagar Airport yesterday, Minister for Home Affairs Madhav Ghimire has said that the government has been moving forward with determination for holding Constituent Assembly (CA) elections. Minister Ghimire said that the government has intensified preparations for the election process and urged one and all not to doubt on this, adding that the government would hold elections at any cost. The government would address the fair demands of the opposing political parties and that they should join the election process, he added, according to the news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

 

Leaders of the High Level Political Mechanism of the four parties at the meeting held yesterday has decided to recommend the government to set the date of elections, to attempt to bring the opposing political parties to agreement, and to set up the commission on delineating the constituencies based on the population census of 2010, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes. The four-party political mechanism also has decided to go ahead with the elections if the opposing political parties refused to come to an agreement on holding the elections.

 

President of the NC of Dadeldhura Karna Bahadur Malla has been using the vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Physical Planning And Works for the purpose of his party. After a week the students affiliated to the UCPN-Maoist and the CPN-UML took the vehicle under their control in the district. Students affiliated to the NC in the district fought back for taking the vehicle for the purpose of the party events in the district, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.
