Treating Disease Of Corruption In Nepal

March 3, 2012: speaking at the function of opening the 17th council meeting of District Development Committee in Sindhulimadi yesterday, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that the political parties will build a consensus on completing the peace process and constitution writing by March 13, 2012, as the leaders of the political parties have intensified dialogues to resolve the contentious issues concerning the peace process and constitution writing; he also has said that the supporters of monarchy have been trying to derail the peace process and constitution writing but the government will stood up to face such activities against the peace process and the constitution writing, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

In course of his speech, the prime minister has said that the government will never tolerate any kind of corruption under any political protection; corruption is a kind of disease that can be treated only by the good governance; so, his efforts are on setting up a good governance."

Speaking at another function in Gaur, Rautahut, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai has asked the locals to watch the people trying to do away with the federal states in the republic; federalism is the major gain of the Madesh revolution and the decade-long civil war, Nepalis should protect this achievement, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

"Political parties still have disputes over the model of federalism. However, a model of federalism on the basis of identity and capacity has already been approved by the Constituent Assembly," ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today quotes Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai.

Hinting to the recent call of President of NC Sushil Koirala and his rival Sher Bahadur Deuba for a referendum, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai has said that the fans of the constitution with the monarchy have asked for fresh national referendum to create hurdles in promulgating the new constitution with federalism but he could not accept anyone making the mockery of the new constitution.

Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai also has warned the former ruler Gyanendra of better living as a commoner rather than going around and talking nonsense referring to the Gyanendra’s recent talks to the reporters in Biratnagar where he has said that democracy and nationality are in peril in Nepal.
