UDMF For Registering Missed Voters Extending Voter-registration

August 1, 2013: the meeting of the United Democratic Madheshi Front (UDMF) held in Kathmandu yesterday has decided to request the Election Commission for extending the voter-registration for a month to register the missed more than one million voters to get registered.
The meeting also has decided that the provision made for the 58 percent proportional representation and 42 percent direct-election to the previous CA should be kept intact. UDMF also has decided to make the provision for the number of the representatives to a new CA from Madhesh based on the population recoded by the population census of 2011.
After the meeting, Chairman of UDMF Bijay Kumar Gacchedar said that serious discussion was held focusing on making the CA elections a success with the participation of all parties. General Secretary of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic Jitendra Dev said that the meeting made a five-point decision on different issues including the role to be played by the UDMF in holding CA elections with the participation of most of the parties, according to the RSS news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’
The Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party, Madheshi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic, Madheshi Janadhikar Forum-Republic, Tarai Madhesh Loktantrik Party-Nepal and Sadbhawana Party are the members of the UDMF.
