Women In Nepalese High Elected Offices

Issue November 2015

November 1, 2015

From now on, women would hold two main highest elected offices in the Nepalese administration.

Following the new constitution, a woman should be elected to one of the offices of president and vice-president. A woman was elected to the president on October 28, and then a man to the vice-president on October 31.

Similarly, one of the offices of the speaker and deputy speaker should go to a woman. Currently, a woman was elected to the office of speaker, and a man to the deputy speaker.
