World Bank Assistance for Nepal

On Sunday, November 02, 2008, World Bank's Country Director for Nepal Susan G Goldmark and Secretary to Ministry of Finance Rameshwore Khanal exchanged a memorandum of understanding on providing Nepal with $36 million to support the poverty alleviation program in Nepal, $19 million grant assistance and $17 million soft loan. The money would be used for providing the poor households with food and basic needs in the food-deficit districts. The World Bank will provide the money in three phases primarily for purchasing fertilizers, seeds and food grains.
